Before performing System Center Configuration Manager 2016 installation, you have to first of all install SQL 2016.
To install SQL 2016, mount the SQL Server 2016 ISO and run Setup.exe
SQL Server Installation Center page will open.
Click on Installation option.
Click the New SQL Server stand-alone installation or add features to an existing installation link.
Enter the product key or use evaluation edition and click Next to continue.
Click I accept the license terms and click Next.
Select Microsoft Update if you wish and click Next.
For Global Rules rule check begin;
Acknowledge the prerequisites and click Next.
Select the following features:
- Database Engine Services
- Full-Text and Semantic Extractions
- Report Services – Native
Then click Next
For Instance, Configuration, you may use Default Instance or create new Named Instance. Click Next;
For Server Configuration enter Services Accounts with passwords. Go to Collation tab;
You must use SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS. Click Next;
For Database Engine Configuration in Server Configuration tab select Windows authentication mode and add Current User, and Local Administrators Group;
On the Reporting Services Configuration Screen ensure Install and configure is selected and click Next.
Click Install on the summary screen.
Once the installation has completed successfully click Close.
Download the latest version that is in GA (General Availability) and run the setup file
Click Install and the installation will start.
Once the installation is complete click Restart.
Now click Start > SQL Server 2016 > SQL Server Management Studio and ensure it opens correctly and can connect to your SQL Instance.
On the Connect to Server screen click Connect.
You can see here everything is fine.
You can now use this SQL Server to install your System Center products.
